Canada Climate Action Foundation (CCAF) – Board of Directors Experience
The Canada Climate Action Foundation (CCAF) is guided by a highly experienced and diverse Board of Directors, whose leadership brings together over 30+ decades of expertise in governance, community development, international cooperation, and climate resilience.
Three out of five Directors identify as women, ensuring that gender equality and inclusivity are not only values but practiced realities in our governance structure.
Collectively, the CCAF Board has successfully led and overseen programs that have transformed lives across Canada, South Asia and beyond. Their work has directly contributed to helping thousands of newcomers and Canadians gain access to meaningful employment opportunities in Canada through workforce readiness programs, community partnerships and cross-sector collaboration.
This track record in job creation and integration reflects the Board’s ability to align local needs with systemic solutions ensuring that economic empowerment remains at the heart of climate and community resilience.
Beyond Canadian borders, the Directors bring decades of hands-on experience working with marginalized and climate-affected communities in South Asia. Several members of the Board previously collaborated with the Regional Community Development Committee (RCDC) in Darjeeling, India, under the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
These initiatives focused on empowering women and rural families affected by the adverse impacts of climate change, including erratic rainfall, soil degradation and declining agricultural productivity.
Through capacity-building, micro-enterprise development and sustainable resource management, these programs not only provided immediate relief but also created pathways to long-term resilience and self-sufficiency.
In addition, the Board’s experience extends into Nepal, where Directors supported projects advancing women’s leadership in rural communities. These initiatives addressed overlapping challenges like climate vulnerability, poverty, and gender inequality by equipping women with tools, training and networks to take active roles in decision-making and income generation.
The Board’s commitment to feminist principles of development has consistently ensured that women are not left behind but rather positioned as key agents of change.
This combination of Canadian employment success and international development expertise uniquely positions the CCAF Board to deliver on projects like gender equality, climate adaptation, inclusive economic growth and global partnerships. The Directors bring not only credibility and governance strength, but also a proven ability to scale community-level impact into sustainable, systemic change.
The CCAF Board of Directors embodies the Foundation’s mission: to bridge Canadian innovation and global cooperation to combat climate change, empower vulnerable populations and build resilient communities.
Their leadership ensures that every initiative we undertake is accountable, inclusive and designed for long-lasting impact at home in Canada and abroad.
